Restoration

As part of our endeavour to provide a wide range of skills within an industrial arts workshop, restoring architectural and antique copper is an important part of our ethos.

The terms restoration, conservation and repair are often misused and the work poorly executed. Much of what we do entails undoing the damage caused by previous repairs. Each job is carefully assessed and we ascertain if the client wants any repair work to be discernable or undetectable (a common approach to contemporary architectural restoration is to clearly show where new materials have been used so viewers can tell old from new.) Our respect for the quality of craftsmanship found in most antique copper work is reflected in our thorough approach to restoration, conservation and repair.
