Trinity
Project
The brief from the client was to create full furnishings
for the refurbished Trinity Church in Newlyn, Cornwall
with all fittings to be made from oak and copper, reflecting
the heritage of boat building and copper work in Newlyn.
Michael worked in collaboration with boat builder/furniture
maker Dave Need, a collaboration that continues to build
as they interweave copper and wood.
The most challenging piece was the font that doubles
as a votive candle stand. Limited space in the sanctuary
called for a multi functional piece of furniture; the
end result is a piece that successfully works in both
capacities.
